Important points to remember for civil site Engineer
https://youtu.be/8kC9KPEq9Wk
Every engineer must know to avoid error on-site while working as Explained below
1. Clear Cover to the main reinforcement
1. Clear Cover to the main reinforcement
Footing : 50 mm
Raft Foundation Top :
50 mm, Bottom/Sides: 75 mm
Beam : 25 mm
Slab : 20 mm
Column : 40 mm
Staircase:15 mm
2. The standard weight of 1m steel bars
Formula: the weight of bar per meter length = d2/162 kg/m , d-diameter of bar in mm
Formula: the weight of bar per meter length = d2/162 kg/m , d-diameter of bar in mm
8 mm 0.39 kg/m
10mm - 0.62 Kg/m
12mm - 0.88 Kg/m
16mm- 1.58 Kg/m
20mm - 2.47 Kg/m
25mm - 3.85 kg/m
32mm - 6.32Kg/m
3. One-Way Slab
The ratio of longer span (l) to shorter span (b) is equal or greater than 2
The main reinforcement is provided in shorter span & distri. Reinf. in the longer span.
4. Two Way Slab
Ratio of longer
span (l) to shorter span (b) is less than 2
load will be
carried in both directions. So, the main reinforcement is provided in both
direction for two-way slabs.
5. Main bars in reinforcement
Main bars in the slabs shall not be
less than 8 mm (HYSD) or 10 mm (Plain bars)
6. Distribution bars
Distribution bars are not less than 8 mm and not more than 1/8 of the slab
thickness.
7. Minimum thickness of slab is 125 mm
7. Minimum thickness of slab is 125 mm
8 8. Compressive strength of Bricks is 3.5 N / mm2 and
Water absorption should not be more than 15 %
9. The freefall of concrete is allowed a maximum to 1.50m.
10. Excavation work for basement above 3m should be stepped form
11. Electrical conducting shall not run through the column
12. Dimension tolerance for cubes + or – 2 mm
13. The pH value of the water should not be less than 6.
14. In soil filling as per IS code for every 100 sqm, 3 samples for core cutting tests should be taken.
15. Lapping is not allowed for the bars having diameters more than 36 mm.
16.
Longitudinal reinforcement not less than 0.8% and
more than 6% of gross c/s.
17. Minimum bars for the square column is 4 no’s and 6 no’s for the circular column.
18. Samples from fresh concrete shall be taken and at least a set of 6 cubes of 150mm shall be prepared and cured. 3 Cubes each at 7 days and 28 days shall be tested for compressive strength. The test results should be submitted to the engineer for approval. If results are unsatisfactory necessary action/rectification/remedial measures have to be exercised.
19. Slum of concrete as per IS code
Lightly reinforce
structure is 25mm-75mm
Heavily reinforce
structure is 75mm-100mm
20. Curing time of RCC Members for different types of cement
Super Sulphate
cement : 7 days
Ordinary Portland
cement OPC : 10 days
Minerals &
Admixture added cement: 14 days
